Its been about a year since i’ve done it, but i shot mainstream sports again! The reason being, i attended the Sports Shooter Academy workshop in Irvine, Ca.. Had a great time, got a lot of interesting / helpful feedback and insight into my photography as well as that side of the industry. A few contemplations and resolutions later, i still love photography, regardless of the subject matter. Had the oppertunity to work besides some awesome people, make new friends and meet some really talented professionals. All in all, it was a great weekend. (Thank you Jason, Suzanne and Craig for letting me crash on your floors!) CHEERS!

I believe i’ve posted about Grote before, but if you missed it or i’m lying; he’s definitely someone to keep an eye on. Whether its on a board or through his work, Grote is the man. I’m proud to call this guy a friend. He kills it with his art and work, i’m constantly impressed by what he does on the daily. I’ve had an odd last few weeks. Faltering motivation, inspiration and drive. Mostly seems to be due to a mental exhaustion of the constant grind at brooks, with the daunting thought of graduation coming closer and closer. I’m starting to feel better and my drive is returning. I’m lucky to say im surrounded by amazing people that regardless of my apparent selfishness or drowned spirit, they still stand by me and help me continue on, near or far. A support i hope to return to as many as i can for the rest of my life.

So this is going to be a random post of the last week or two of my life.. a lot of cruising with my favorite people. Have not been shooting too much, but have a good little stock pile of film that i need to develop when i have the money and have been working on the Birdfeeder Documentary as well. But mostly, my mind has been pretty occupied trying to get a handle on the fact that i graduate in 6 months! no! FIVE months! Chee huu! Stoked! But scared shitless.. here we go!

So i guess its only proper i do a legitimate blog post on this guy. I call him Junior, but to most he’s JR. The guy has to be one of the most genuinely creative people i know, and hes full to the brim with it. Kills it with Painting, Photography, Skating, Surfing, Music.. you name it. Stoked to have been living with the guy for a year almost to date. He constantly inspires me to push my work and inspirations on the daily.

On Friday i went to LA with Jon Azim Lake, A good buddy of mine that i go to school with from LA. Jon has to be one of the raddest cats i know at Brooks, hands down the most charismatic guy i know. Was stoked when i had a somewhat free day and he call me up and invited me down to his home town. Met some interesting cats and had a blast. Over the weekend i ended up cruising around in the morning with JR, David, Cory and Viola to work on the Birdfeeder Documentary. After we shot some dailies we headed down to a skate spot behind the local Vons and i shot a little bit on my film and digital cameras. Unfortunately i lost about half of my film from a dumb barney move, so i only had one roll of black and white to work from which mainly consisted of portraits.

And now.. i have to write a 4 page essay for english at brooks. cheehoo!

I’ve come up with a goal this week.. my end all be all project for when i graduate that i think will help me get rolling.. These last few books, layouts and physical projects are getting me closer to my goal.. Heres my latest:
